The ET Index Series builds on the logic first described in the book Environmental Tracking and subsequently developed by The Environmental Investment Organisation in collaboration with the LSE Environmental Initiatives Network.

The ET Index Series is designed to incentivise carbon reduction and disclosure by companies worldwide within the safety of the index investment model.

The first stage of the ET Index Series, a Carbon Ranking of the world's largest companies by absolute GHG emissions, will be going public in February 2010. This will pave the way for the subsequent launch of the ET Index Series. If adopted on a sufficient scale, the new index series offers the prospect of a significant change in the role investment plays in our world.

The current global investment system has been propelling us onto a disaster course. The Environmental Tracking Concept offers a constructive alternative that might just put in place a mechanism to avert the most serious climate scenarios that currently risk coming to fruition.
